Tonight’s concert also includes the first look at our upcoming 2021-22 season!

In April, we continue our collaboration with sensational young artists Nicholas Canellakis and Michael Brown, and also feature the Philharmonic performing American George Walker’s touching tribute to his grandmother, Lyric for Strings. We will also play Argentine Osvaldo Golijov’s pugnacious Last Round, a musical boxing match that serves as a tribute to tango legend Astor Piazolla. We will also play Englishman Edward Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro, which ingeniously pits a solo string quartet against the rest of the orchestra in a fascinating interplay. Michael Brown joins us in a selection from JS Bach’s Piano Concerto in d minor, and Nicholas Canellakis will offer Tchaikovsky’s touching Andante Cantabile, transcribed from his String Quartet No. 1.

This concert will be made available online during the week following the broadcast. Please watch our social media accounts for more information.
