Classical music from the British Isles blossomed in the late nineteenth century and thrives even to this day.  Some composers chose to capitalize on the cascading hills of the lush countryside or the immaculate gardens of a princely estate for inspiration.  Others inflected their works with the liveliness of folk dances and melodies.  Others still drew on the indomitable English and Celtic spirit.  Some composers were even able to plumb the depths of nostalgia to produce music that touches the hearts of listeners to this day.  In this episode, we survey the expanse that makes music from this part of the world so deeply felt in our hearts, minds, and spirits.
