Now Entering Our 76th Season!
The Erie Junior Philharmonic is excited to announce our auditions for the 2022-23 season! This year all auditions will be conducted digitally via video submission, and it’s as easy as recording a video with your smartphone. If the video is too big to email, you can use a platform like Google Drive or Dropbox to share it with us.
In order to give everyone the most amount of time to prepare for auditions, all Erie Junior Philharmonic auditions will be submitted and reviewed electronically. Please send audition materials to Maura Pelinsky at fiddlemo@msn.com. . Registration is now open!
Note: Most students record and submit their audition using a smartphone, it couldn’t be any easier!
(please feel free to reach out if your video is to large to send via email, we can provide alternative submission options)
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the age requirements for the Erie Junior Philharmonic?
Erie Junior Philharmonic auditions are open to students who are seven (7) years of age or older by September 14, 2022. Students are eligible to participate until they graduate from high school.
How do I know which audition standards to pick?
Please follow the audition standards that most closely match your current level of playing. Candidates audition for a place in the Erie Junior Philharmonic at large - not a specific ensemble - and selected candidates will be placed in an ensemble based on level. Please note that placement is not guaranteed.
When is the application deadline?
We will accept applications until all positions are filled. We will begin reviewing applications on July 15, so we encourage any student auditioning for a principal chair to submit their application by mid-July.
I borrow my instrument from my school and don’t have access to it over the summer. What should I do?
The Erie Junior Philharmonic has a limited supply of loaner instruments to help students complete their audition. To learn more, please contact Maura Pelinsky at fiddlemo@msn.com.
I don’t have a device to record my audition on. What should I do?
The Erie Junior Philharmonic has the ability to help students record their audition materials. To learn more, please contact Maura Pelinsky at fiddlemo@msn.com.
Is my student required to reaudition each season?
The Erie Junior Philharmonic requires students to reaudition each season to ensure they are placed in an ensemble that most closely matches their level of playing. This means that a student might spend a few seasons in one ensemble before moving to the next.
Does it cost money to audition for the Erie Junior Philharmonic?
The Erie Junior Philharmonic wants to make quality music education accessible to all students. Because of this, we are providing remote auditions at no charge to all students. Tuition will be charged for all students accepted to the Erie Junior Philharmonic.
Are scholarships available?
Need-based scholarships and payment plans are available to all students. We also offer scholarships for "endangered instruments", including viola, bass, and more! To apply or learn more, please contact Maura Pelinsky at fiddlemo@msn.com.
